Responsible discovery
Respect nature, the land and cultural heritage.
Know your search area
Owning a detector does not grant permission to search or dig everywhere. Before visiting an area, confirm access conditions, required permissions and local rules with the relevant authorities.
Minimise your impact
Respect wildlife, vegetation and areas used by others. Take your waste with you. Follow the rules for protected or restricted areas.
Unexpected finds
If you encounter an object that may have cultural value or may be dangerous, seek guidance from the relevant local authorities rather than handling it yourself. Prioritise safety.
Prepare for the field
Check the weather, use suitable equipment, bring water and plan your route. In remote or difficult terrain, consider communication options and your return route in advance.
